Ah...we're on suspension...!!!

It's been 5 months since my last post! Slack that I am, I haven't been on to advise that we've had to suspend this concept.

We've also been asked to take down our logo as the Cube symbol has been trademarked by incub8r and quite a number of people were getting us confused with one another.

Having been unable to raise enough support for the concept, I've had to reluctantly let go of this pet project of mine and concentrate on building up my glass fusing business.

If you're interested, please check out
http://www.pearlscreations.com.au/

I will be doing more research into perhaps a different location to apply this concept more successfully.

Please let me know if you would like to be informed or may be interested in participating when we finally get the concept up and going.

Updated Opening Specials & Final Dateline

There are growing concerns as to whether SIAQ will take off at all with delays already occurring in getting the shop off the ground at Westfield Carousel.

SIAQ can't work without the support of independent artists/creative individuals.

We would like to encourage independent artists/creative individuals to participate and help the concept of SIAQ come true. So, we are prepared to offer a better discount to already existing participants as well as to new participants considering/hanging back but still considering joining SIAQ.

For participants that have already expressed their interest prior to the 15th of May 2008, SIAQ offers you a 20% discount off leasing fees as well as 0% commission on the minimum 3-month duration, that's for ALL 3 months. It's our "thank you" to you for your immediate support!

For new participants considering joining SIAQ, we have 2 datelines for you.

Join before the 30th of June 2008 and you will be entitled to a 15% discount off leasing fees as well as 0% commission on the minimum 3-month duration, that's for ALL 3 months.

Join before the 31st of July 2008 and you will be entitled to a 10% discount off leasing fees and 5% commission on the minimum 3-month duration, that's for ALL 3 months.

AND

For all participants wanting to hire more than 1 cube at a time, we are introducing a 50% discount for the 1st month of lease and a subsequent 20% discount each month for each additional cube leased.

IMPORTANT NOTE: -

SIAQ aims to commence operations by 1st of September 2008.

That's a Spring start, a brand new beginning.

In the event SIAQ does not reach it's targeted 30 participants by the 31st of July, it will be with regret that the concept be abandoned.

Out In Perth!

SIAQ has appeared in Out In Perth!

We are really pleased with the write up and also very grateful for the exposure. Thank you Scott-Patrick!

There are a couple of facts we would like to correct slightly however; we hope to commence soon at Westfield Carousel and June was looking hopeful but without enough expression of interest raised, SIAQ will have to delay commencement yet again.

Also, we have expressed an interest with Sydney Airport to participate in their expansion. They have advised that they will take our expression of interest into consideration but there has been no confirmation yet as to whether they wish to take our concept on board.

Hopefully with the ads coming out in Handmade and ArtSource's season magazine, as well as a few more write-ups SIAQ has lined up with other craft magazines and possibly a local community newspaper, we will reach our target expression of interest numbers sooner rather than later.

It's taken me a while...

I'm sorry for not having the time to provide an update. I've been busy trying to get the word out further via different forms of media.

We've been on ArtsWA's 'What's On' for the last 2 weeks now and will be mentioned in ArtSource's as well as Propelart's coming up newsletter in the next week. And over the next couple of months, we'll also be appearing on Out In Perth, Handmade and Get Creative.

I have also made an expression of interest to Sydney International Airport to perhaps introduce SIAQ into their plans for expansion of T1. We'll wait and see what will happen there.

Have had the pleasure of speaking with more artists and coming away with valuable feedbacks. I have implemented some of these feedbacks to the design and layout of the front/homepage of SIAQ's blog. Hopefully this has made things clearer for those who've dropped in for a quick look to see what SIAQ is about.

Latest update with Occupiers of SIAQ, we have 10 confirmed interests! Unfortunately, this will not be enough for us to commence the concept. So, the dateline has been extended by another month. We hope to secure 30 confirmed interests before commencing the design and construction of the proposed layout.

So, the dateline for expression of interest is now the 15th of May 2008. The Grand Opening Special will be adjusted to read 15% discount off the first month's lease and 0% commission for the minimum 3 months duration.

For those who've already expressed an interest before the 15th of April but have not submitted the registration of interest forms or deposit to secure your place with SIAQ, the original Grand Opening Special will apply to you.

Wow 500+ Visitors! That's 200+ over the weekend!

Oh we're so getting the word out there now.

I've commenced putting a list of FAQ together, questions I've actually received via email directly. I'll try to complete that asap. Let me know if there are more questions other than the ones I've been getting that you want answered.

We should be featuring in ArtsWA and ArtSource's newsletter soon. And I believe Glass Manifesto has voiced us in their upcoming newsletter as well as on AusGlass forums. We appreciate all the help we can get in spreading the word.

We're looking at advertising in the newspapers soon and any other media to get the word out in a bigger and faster way.

An additional 150+ Visitors in just 2 days since the last post!

It's all very exciting seeing so much traffic coming through our Blog!

There's been quite some development over the last couple of days, we have a new logo and I have fantastic news!

SIAQ will be able to insure your products!

I was getting confused by how SIAQ was going to operate but seeing as SIAQ actually acts as an Agent and will be selling the products and invoicing under it's business name, the products would be considered as being owned by SIAQ. And hence, the ability for the Insurance Company to insure SIAQ for Content against Loss (Fire) or Theft (Burglary).

So, not only will SIAQ be designed to keep your products safely displayed in lockable units, we will also be able to insure your products for you!

With the insurance problem sorted now, I am happy to announce that the info packs are ready for sending!

For those that have requested a copy, please look out for them either in the mail next week or in your inbox shortly.

150+ Visitors!

Wow, we've hit 150 Visitors in just a little over a week of getting this blog up and running! That's a real exciting thing for us as we're definitely on the way to getting the message out there.

I've been busy with tidying up the info pack, getting it ready for printing. For those who've requested an info pack, I do apologise for the delay. I will most definitely be getting them out to you today and tomorrow.

As for insurances, I've had my broker look into that and she'll be advising me today what my options are.

She did say that it could be difficult having the insurance agents insure products that do not belong to me, and that sellers would ordinarily have their own public liability when selling or displaying their products. It's just like going to the markets or a fair, you need to have your own public liability and product insurance.

It's the way that SIAQ has been set up, we're deemed a vehicle for individuals to use to display and sell their products, hence we're like the market place and we need to hold public liability insurance for the premise but not the products as they do not belong to SIAQ.

I've asked for a few different scenarios. I hope to be able to find a mutual way to put you guys at ease.

Concerns with Shop In a Qube

Hiiya, we've been receiving some feedbacks and concerns with our current concept.

We've made an adjustment to the pricing & commission structure, and will look into the insurance for products on display.

We hope to be able to find a way to adequately insure your products for you should you decide to join us.

A "FAQ" section is currently being drafted and will hopefully be up and going shortly.

Also, we have decided to offer 0% commission for the first 3 months as a Grand Opening Special! The 20% discount on the first month lease is still applicable.
